UPRIGHT SCAFFOLD SET UP PART 2
INTRODUCTION:
This UpRight Scaffold set up part 2 is a continuation from UpRight Scaffold set up part 1. In this article the UpRight Scaffold in the proper way. There are also ways to take down the UpRight Scaffold in wrong ways and those will be discussed as well.
PROPER BRACING PLACEMENT:
There is a right way and a wrong way to position your bracing. You always put the horizontal brace above or below the diagonal braces that make an “X” this creates and Isosceles triangle (go to link for more information) www.google.com/#q=isosceles+triangle. The Isosceles Triangle is one of the strongest shapes in a compression situation. By putting the horizontal brace above or below the “X” you create the isosceles triangle.
IMPROPER BRACING PLACEMENT:
In this photo you see the horizontal brace running through the middle of the UpRight Scaffold diagonal braces which is WRONG. This is not a stable positioning of the horizontal brace in conjunction with the diagonal braces.
PLATFORM POSITIONING:
This shows you how to put your platform on the same rung that your diagonal braces are snapped to. Just move the bracing in towards the middle of the scaffolding and position the platform hooks on either side of the diagonal bracing hooks.
DISMANTLING OF SCAFFOLD:
You do everything in reverse. You Remove the platform first, then remove both diagonal braces. Then release the hook of the horizontal brace that is connected to one of the UpRight Scaffold Base Frames and set the horizontal brace hook on the ground. The brace will hold up the other frame at an angle because it is connected to the vertical tube.
WRONG ORDER OF RELEASING BRACING:
You never want to release the horizontal brace first. There are two situations that can occur. The end frames can pivot in the hooks of the diagonal braces (because they are attached to the horizontal rung) causing the frames to tilt out or the frames can tilt in. If you’re inside the scaffolding the end frames will come down on top of you which can injure the worker.
