ACCESS PLATFORMS

ACCESS PLATFORMS

A BENCH, A CHAIR, A LADDER OR TWO LADDERS WITH A BOARD BETWEEN THEM. THESE ARE CONSIDERED ACCESS PLATFORMS, CRUDE, UNSAFE BUT EFFECTIVE. WE DO NOT CONDONE THE USE OF THESE BUT WERE MERELY TRYING TO MAKE A POINT. THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL AN ACCESS PLATFORM.THE POINT IS IF YOU NEED TO GET OFF THE GROUND TO ACCESS SOMETHING OVERHEAD YOU HAVE WHAT IS CALLED, AN ACCESS PLATFORM. It CAN BE SCAFFOLDING, SCISSOR LIFT, BOOM LIFT OR PERSONNEL LIFT. There are many different names associated with the different lifts but they all have one thing in common and that is to access your overhead needs.

You have a church with lots of pews and lights above and they need to be changed, what do you do? There are a few options remove the pews and drive a scissor lift or boom lift in as long as the floors are level to access your lights. If the floors are not level then that throws those access platforms out. The other idea is to leave the pews in place and use lightweight aluminum scaffolding that can go up and over the pews. This is achieved by either adjusting the legs out or offsetting a frame, if the floor is really sloped.  Now you have an access platform that will work without having to remove the pews which saves time and energy.

Let’s say your a homeowner who wants to access the side of his two-story building to painted it.  Well you have many choices of access platforms. You can use a boom lift if the ground is solid enough or a scissor lift if the ground is solid or a ladder or scaffolding. All of these are very useful access platforms it just depends on how much you want to spend and how much time you have. This is why you should call a professional to looking at your job and suggest the proper access platform.

When using access platforms please refer to the instruction manuals for any questions or call your representative. If instruction manuals do not come with equipment please call and ask your representative for them or check the equipment before they leave. Any reputable company will go over the proper use of your access equipment with you as well as answer any questions you may have.

UPRIGHT S.N.A. AERIAL WORK PLATFORMS / CASTERS

UPRIGHT S.N.A. AERIAL WORK PLATFORMS / CASTERS

ISSUE:

Casters taking major abuse?  Upright SNA aerial work platforms/casters will show you how to take steps to prevent small problems from turning into large problems. Upright SNA aerial work platforms/casters is a brief informational on our casters, their use and their abuse.

REASON:

Because the casters are on the bottom of the upright scaffolding or your aerial work platform. They are the last to be looked at until there is a problem. Normally we check the structure of the scaffolding as we build it. The aerial work platforms we normally just jump up onto and go up. We have become too trusting with our equipment. Remember you’re in control of your Upright SNA Aerial Work Platforms.

PREVENTION:

To prevent problems with your UPRIGHT SNA AERIAL WORK PLATFORMS / CASTERS, start by reading the instruction manual.  It takes 10 minutes and will save you time and money. When inspecting your equipment start at the bottom with your casters. Check them for string and other debris. Make sure the brakes work by pushing them down to lock them and pulling up on the lever to unlock them. Check to make sure your Upright Aerial Work Platform casters rotate side to side easily with the brake-off. So if you check your casters every morning and look for string and other debris that can wrap itself around your castor. Now is the time to remove it not later. By ignoring this and using the scaffolding the string or other debris will continue to wrap itself tighter and tighter around your castor hub. Once that happens you will need to take your castor apart and clean out the debris and then reassemble your castor. This will take you about a half hour to 45 minutes per castor. This equates to time and money.

ALUMINUM SCAFFOLDING TAIL STAND #EMB120

ALUMINUM SCAFFOLDING TAIL STAND #EMB120

                      ALUMINUM SCAFFOLDING TAIL STAND #EMB120

INTRODUCTION:
This article is going to show the Aluminum Scaffolding Tail Stand #EMB120. The Aluminum Scaffolding Tail Stand # EMB120  accesses an area of the aircraft called the empennage. The Aluminum Scaffolding Tail Stand #EMB120 helps the crew access all parts of the empennage to do what is call an “A” check.  There are four levels of aircraft checks and they are A, B, C and D checks. The TAIL STAND FOR THE #EMB120 covers the vertical and horizontal stabilizers and the APU (auxiliary power unit). This check is like you taking your car in for its 10,000 mile check.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCESS STAND:

The Aluminum Scaffolding Tail Stand #EMB120  needed to be light weight, portable and durable. The customer wanted to access the whole empennage without having to move the access stand or a platform lift. A platform lift like a scissors or boom lift would need to be move to all the different locations and if they are not set up with a wand that stick out 3 or so inches around the platform that shuts the platform lifts down if they get to close; then is when things could get expensive. They access platform was required to be moved by the mechanics and not a tug.

This was a perfect application for portable aluminum scaffolding. We used as much standard equipment as possible and then made the custom parts and here it is.

ACCESS STANDS NEED WORK TO:

This stand has been in service for over 20 years. I should know, I sold it and assembled it when I worked for UpRight Scaffold in Selma, Ca. After all that time the casters wore out and the customer had other access requirements so UpRight Scaffold North America was called in to meet their requirement needs.

CONCLUSION:

The Aluminum Scaffolding Tail Stand  #EMB120 Is tough, durable and light weight For easy and careful positioning around the aircraft. Please follow up on next blog and from all of us here at UpRight Scaffold North America, “if you ever need to get up get UpRight with UpRight Scaffold North America.”
