DAMAGE:

To fix your aluminum scaffolding extension frame we will need to know the problem. This three rung double wide extension frame is missing its bushings.

The missing bushings are what connect the extension frame to the bottom frame. After time these get beat up or lost.

FIX IN THE FIELD:

Fixing your aluminum scaffolding extension frame in the field requires the replacement bushing and the self-tapping screw. You will see from the pictures below the sequence process for replacing the bushing in the field.

PREVENTION:

Read your owners manual regarding maintenance. By checking your scaffolding daily before it goes out you can catch loose screws or broken rivets. These are the two methods of connections that are used by the manufacturers for connecting the bushing to the frame. It takes less than 10 minutes to read the manual and that time can save you hundreds of dollars.

HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?

Damage scaffolding starts with abuse. Abuse equals misuse.

If a person does not know how to use something like upright aluminum scaffolding they will wind up misusing it and in turn damaging the scaffolding. The pictures below reflects this abuse. The damage to these parts were the result of someone not knowing how to use the scaffolding properly.

Safety clip damage. They ripped between the locking hole and retaining hole
Tour between the locking pin hole and the holding position hole

 

HOW TO PREVENT DAMAGE:

Read the scaffolding manual. It will tell you how to use the scaffolding properly. How to set it up properly and tear it down. The instruction manual will talk about scaffolding maintenance. Now taking 10 minutes to read this will save you a lot of money. Train your people on the proper use of the scaffolding. This will prevent damage due to not understanding how to properly set up and tear down scaffolding. Understanding how to use the scaffolding would prevent the above damage.

 

CONCLUSION:
