A BENCH, A CHAIR, A LADDER OR TWO LADDERS WITH A BOARD BETWEEN THEM. THESE ARE CONSIDERED ACCESS PLATFORMS, CRUDE, UNSAFE BUT EFFECTIVE. WE DO NOT CONDONE THE USE OF THESE BUT WERE MERELY TRYING TO MAKE A POINT. THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL AN ACCESS PLATFORM.THE POINT IS IF YOU NEED TO GET OFF THE GROUND TO ACCESS SOMETHING OVERHEAD YOU HAVE WHAT IS CALLED, AN ACCESS PLATFORM. It CAN BE SCAFFOLDING, SCISSOR LIFT, BOOM LIFT OR PERSONNEL LIFT. There are many different names associated with the different lifts but they all have one thing in common and that is to access your overhead needs.
You have a church with lots of pews and lights above and they need to be changed, what do you do? There are a few options remove the pews and drive a scissor lift or boom lift in as long as the floors are level to access your lights. If the floors are not level then that throws those access platforms out. The other idea is to leave the pews in place and use lightweight aluminum scaffolding that can go up and over the pews. This is achieved by either adjusting the legs out or offsetting a frame, if the floor is really sloped. Now you have an access platform that will work without having to remove the pews which saves time and energy.
Let’s say your a homeowner who wants to access the side of his two-story building to painted it. Well you have many choices of access platforms. You can use a boom lift if the ground is solid enough or a scissor lift if the ground is solid or a ladder or scaffolding. All of these are very useful access platforms it just depends on how much you want to spend and how much time you have.
